What is adjustable Venturi mask?
The venturi mask, also known as an air-entrainment mask, is a medical device to deliver a known oxygen concentration to patients on controlled oxygen therapy. The mask was invented by Moran Campbell at McMaster University Medical School as a replacement for intermittent oxygen treatment.
What is the difference between Venturi mask and oxygen mask?
Nasal cannulas and simple face masks are typically used to deliver low levels of oxygen. Another type of mask, the Venturi mask, delivers oxygen at higher levels. Sometimes nasal cannulas are also used to deliver high levels of oxygen.
Is a Venturi mask a rebreather?
Other masks that can also be used are a venturi mask and a non-rebreather (also known as reservoir) mask. A venturi mask is used when a fixed concentration of oxygen is needed. The non-rebreather mask is used mainly in emergency situations for acute respiratory conditions.
